Contemporary Coastal

The outward simplicity of this house belies the complexity of its engineering. It is basically the Rock of Gibraltar sitting on stilts. One hundred and fifty-seven piles support a network of steel and concrete columns that float the first floor eleven feet in the air. The windows are hurricane-grade.

Beyond its rigid structure, the interior is entirely contemporary. Cantilevered stairs, flush trim, and oak doors complete the modern aesthetic.
